Do you offer any discounts for Claremont Nature Centre 2024 summer camps?
Anyone with a Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) Conservation Parks Membership Pass will receive a 10% discount.


Is food included in my child(ren)’s camp fee for Claremont Nature Centre 2024 summer camps?
A hot lunch is included this year with your registration for day camps. All campers are expected to bring their own snacks.

All meals and snacks are included in our overnight camps. Meals are delicious, healthy and kid-friendly!


Can I preview a sample menu?

Day Camp*:

  • Monday: Beef Burgers and Garden Salad, Homemade Cookie
  • Tuesday: Macaroni & Cheese with Whole Wheat Dinner Roll and Fresh Veggies and Dip, Popsicle
  • Wednesday: Baked Chicken Nuggets with Caesar Salad, Homemade Brownie
  • Thursday: Meatball Subs with Cheese and Fresh Veggies and Dip, Ice Cream Sandwich
  • Friday: Cheese Pizza with Garden Salad, Apple Tart

Overnight Camp*:

  • Breakfast: Beef Burgers and Garden Salad, Homemade Cookie
  • Lunch: Macaroni & Cheese with Whole Wheat Dinner Roll and Fresh Veggies and Dip, Popsicle
  • Dinner: Baked Chicken Nuggets with Caesar Salad, Homemade Brownie
  • There is always an evening snack, and fruit available throughout the day!

Can I add a hot lunch for just one or two days?
No. Our hot lunch package is only available per week.


Do you offer extended care?
Yes. Extended care is available for $100 per week, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Any camper not picked up by 4:10 p.m. will be transferred into extended care for a fee. There is a late fee of $25 per 15-minute increments after 5:30 p.m.


Can I sign up for just one or two days of extended care?
No.


What age groups are Claremont Nature Centre 2024 summer camps offered for?
Claremont Nature Centre 2024 summer camps are for children ages 4 to 15. (A specialized high school archaeology credit course is also offered at Claremont for ages 16-plus.)

Age groups for summer camps are divided as follows:

  • Bumblebees: Ages 4-5 (8 campers per group)
  • Fireflies: Ages 5-7 (10 campers per group)
  • Cicadas: Ages 7-9 (10 campers per group)
  • Arachnids: Ages 9-12 (10 campers per group)
  • Survival Challenge Extended Camp: Ages 10-14 (10 campers per group)
  • Leaders in Training: Ages 12-15 (10 campers per group)

What is the ratio of campers to counselors for summer camp at Claremont Nature Centre?

  • Bumblebees (Ages 4-5) – 1 staff : 8 campers
  • All other age groups – 1 staff : 10 campers

What COVID policies and procedures are in place for Claremont Nature Centre 2024 summer camps?
Facilities are cleaned and high-touch surfaces are disinfected on daily basis. Campers and staff who are sick are asked to stay home.


What should I do if my child(ren)’s age group is sold out? Can they participate with another age group?
If your child’s age group is sold out, please contact vservices@trca.ca with the age of your child(ren) and preferred week(s) to be put on our waiting list. We aim to provide the best camp experience possible, where campers are comfortable and challenged just the right amount; our specific age groups reflect this.


What is your cancellation policy for summer camps?
Cancellation requests received by TRCA more than 30 days before the start of the camp program will receive a 75% refund of the relevant program fees paid. Cancellation requests received by TRCA less than 30 days before the start of the camp program do not qualify for a refund. Rescheduling is subject to availability. There is no refund for camp days missed or children opting not to participate in activities. Cancellation requests must be received in writing by email to vservices@trca.ca. Minimum registration numbers required for camp to operate. In the event TRCA must cancel the camp due to low registration or government order, a full refund will be issued.


What happens if a day of camp is cancelled?

What happens if my child misses a day of camp?
There is no refund for camp days missed or children opting not to participate in activities. Rescheduling is subject to availability.


How can I prepare my child(ren) for 2024 summer camps at Claremont Nature Centre?
Day campers should be fully able to use the washroom on their own, wash their hands, and open all lunch containers. They should not be accustomed to a nap during the day.

Overnight campers should be prepared not to not call home for the first couple days of camp. Please ensure they are aware that you don’t expect to hear from them until halfway through their time away!


Is 2024 summer camp at Claremont Nature Centre held indoors, outdoors, or both?
Camps at Claremont are outdoors! Our camps are designed and supervised by Ontario Certified Teachers who specialize in getting kids learning and enjoying the great outdoors. We do have indoor space for cool-down breaks, lunch, and inclement weather.


Are summer camp facilities at Claremont Nature Centre nut-free?
Yes. Claremont facilities are nut-free, and we ask all guests to refrain from bringing any food with nuts.


Once I’ve registered my child(ren), when do I need to have the camper information package completed? Where can I find it? Why do you need it?
Camper registration forms should be completed upon booking to ensure that we have all information about your camper. The booking documents can be found at the bottom of your invoice. They are used to inform staff of any allergies or relevant conditions, as well as contact information for anyone who is authorized to pick up your camper.


Do I need any specialized equipment for my child(ren) to participate in 2024 summer camps?
No.
