Is transportation offered to Kortright Centre for Conservation summer camps for the 2024 season?
No.


Do you offer subsidies of any kind for Kortright Centre for Conservation 2024 summer camps?
No.


Do you offer any discounts for Kortright Centre for Conservation 2024 summer camps?
TRCA Conservation Parks members receive a 10% discount. Please contact Visitor Services to get your membership discount.


Is food included in my child(ren)’s camp fee for Kortright Centre for Conservation 2024 summer camps?
Food is not included in the camp fee but is an optional add-on available to campers for an additional fee. Marshmallows will be provided for certain camp programs. Campers need to bring their own nut-free lunches, snacks, and water bottle.


What age groups are Kortright Centre for Conservation 2024 summer camps offered for?
Kortright Centre for Conservation 2024 summer camps are for children ages 4 to 16. Age groups are divided as follows:

  • Bumblebees: Ages 4-5
  • Chickadees: Ages 6-7
  • Fireflies: Ages 7-8
  • Cicadas: Ages 8-9
  • Coyotes: Ages 9-11
  • Leadership Adventure: Ages 12-14*
  • Leaders in Training: Ages 14-16**

*Weeks of July 8-12 and August 12-16
**Two-week camp: August 12-23


Can I enroll my camper if they are turning 4 but are not yet 4 years old on the day that they start camp?
Unfortunately, we cannot accept campers who have not yet turned 4 years of age by the date that they start camp; this is in compliance with the Ontario Ministry of Education’s day camp policy. (View Ontario’s rules for day camps.) Camps that accept campers under the age of 4 must be a registered day care, which is not a service that we provide. If you are unable to enroll your camper this summer, we hope you will consider summer camp at Kortright next year.


What is the ratio of campers to counselors for summer camp at Kortright Centre for Conservation?
Counselor to camper ratios are as follows:

  • Bumblebees – 1:8
  • Chickadees/Fireflies/Cicadas/Coyotes – 1:10
  • Leadership Adventure/Leaders in Training – 1:12

Does Kortright Centre for Conservation offer 1:1 support for campers with exceptionalities?
Kortright does not provide 1:1 support for campers with exceptionalities. To discuss other accessible and inclusive options, please contact Heather.Stafford@trca.ca.


What COVID policies and procedures are in place for summer camp?
Facilities and high-touch areas are cleaned on a daily basis. Campers and staff who are sick are asked to stay home.


What should I do if my child(ren)’s age group is sold out? Can they participate with another age group?
If your child’s age group is sold out, please contact info@kortright.org to join our email list to be notified if spaces open up. Campers are not able to participate with other age groups.


What is your cancellation policy for summer camps?
Cancellation requests received by TRCA more than 30 days before the start of the camp program will receive a 75% refund of the relevant program fees paid. Cancellation requests received by TRCA less than 30 days before the start of the camp program do not qualify for a refund. Please contact us in cases of sickness prior to the program so we can be in touch about rescheduling or refunding. Rescheduling is subject to availability. There is no refund for camp days missed or children opting not to participate in activities. Cancellation requests must be received in writing by email to vservices@trca.ca. Minimum registration numbers required for camp to operate. In the event TRCA must cancel the camp due to low registration or government order, a full refund will be issued.


What happens if a day of camp is cancelled?
In the event Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) must cancel a camp due to low registration or government order, a full refund will be issued.


What happens if my child misses a day of camp?
There is no refund for camp days missed or children opting not to participate in activities. Rescheduling is subject to availability.


How can I prepare my child(ren) for 2024 summer camps at Kortright Centre for Conservation?
Campers should be fully able to use the washroom on their own, wash their hands, and open all of their lunch containers. Campers should be prepared to be outside in most weather conditions and ready to actively participate.


Is 2024 summer camp at Kortright Centre for Conservation held indoors, outdoors, or both?
We are an outdoor camp, but we do have an air-conditioned indoor facility for handwashing, washrooms, and in case of inclement weather.


Are summer camp facilities at Kortright Centre for Conservation nut-free?
We are a nut-aware facility. Campers and staff are reminded not to bring any nut products to camp.


Once I’ve registered my child(ren), when do I need to have the camper information package completed? Where can I find it? Why do you need it?
Camp registrations forms should be completed upon booking to ensure that we have all the information about your camper. The booking documents can be found at the bottom of your invoice. They are used to inform staff of any allergies and other important information about the camper. They also include the information for authorized adults for pickup.


Do I need any specialized equipment for my child(ren) to participate in 2024 summer camps?
No.
