Taking a long hike along the Etobicoke Creek Trail is a whole lot easier now, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), the City of Brampton, the Town of Caledon, Region of Peel, and the Ministry of Transportation. Dignitaries, TRCA staff and members of local cycling groups were on hand this past Tuesday to celebrate the extension of the Etobicoke Creek Trail Link with short ceremony and ribbon cutting.
The completed trail link is the realization of a dream to allow Etobicoke Creek trail users a continuous path from the City of Brampton to the Town of Caledon. Through funding and contributions from the City of Brampton, Town of Caledon, Region of Peel, TRCA and the Ontario Municipal Cycling Infrastructure Program, more than 1,500 m of new trail was created, including a new trailhead kiosk.
While construction of the trail link was completed in September, TRCA will continue to work with Brampton and Caledon staff to organize community planting events to enhance the trail, prevent erosion and improve habitat for wildlife.
There is still time to get out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather and the new section of trail. Why not grab your bike or favourite pair of walking shoes and take in the beauty of the Etobicoke Creek Trail.
