Two Ontario hospitals, committed to the circular economy, transferred resources in an effort to keep waste from landfill, reuse valuable resources and help support the community.
Sarsfield Colonial Homes collected three gently-used bathtubs and lifts from Runnymede Health Centre in Toronto, saving thousands of dollars in equipment costs and over 1.5 tonnes of waste from entering the local landfill.
Runnymede Health Centre used the Partners in Project Green’s Material Exchange platform to find a local group interested in accepting this material for reuse.
Sarsfield Colonial Homes is a small long-term care facility located outside of Ottawa. Due to their small size, having only 46 residents, it can be difficult to receive Ministry funds for retrofit projects. Runnymede Healthcare Centre was conducting renovations and no longer needed the hospital bathtubs.
“Sarsfield Colonial Homes was thrilled to receive the bathtubs that Runnymede Healthcare Centre no longer needed.
