On behalf of the Members and staff of Toronto and Region Conservation, I wish to express sincere condolences to the Tovey family with the passing of our colleague Jim Tovey.

From January 2011 until present, Mr. Tovey actively served on the Authority. Over the past seven years, he dedicated himself to the operation of our organization in protecting and preserving nature and diverse species, creating sustainable communities and finding innovative ways to appreciate and explore the environmental gems found in our region.

Of particular personal interest to him were the Lakeview Waterfront Connection Project and the transfer of the Arsenal Lands and Small Arms Building to the City of Mississauga for future public use and community participation.

Mr. Tovey was known for his passion, tireless determination and his unwavering commitment to the community.

Our thoughts are with the Tovey family at this difficult time.
