In this full-day certification, students will be introduced to basic map and compass terminology and skills through a combination of a presentation, hands-on learning, and outdoor challenges, while gaining an appreciation for the importance of maps and compasses in the workplace and in their daily lives.
Participants will also learn how GPS works, what it can be used for, and how it relates to topographical maps.
Learners will gain familiarity with handheld GPS devices, and use them to navigate around the property and compete in a friendly geocaching challenge.
