South Richvale Valleyland Restoration Works – Completed

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), in association with the City of Richmond Hill, completed remedial erosion control works along Patterson Creek, in order to provide long-term protection to at-risk municipal land and infrastructure.

Scope of Work

  • Start Date: Spring 2019
  • Completion Date: Fall 2020

Remedial works were implemented at the South Richvale Valleyland Restoration Works Project in order to provide long-term protection to at-risk municipal land and infrastructure. The project included the following:

  • Geotechnical and geomorphic study (completed in 2017)
  • Development of detailed design (completed summer – winter 2018)
  • Obtain all necessary and approvals to proceed to construction (winter 2018 – spring 2019)
  • Replacement of a failed cribwall with a vegetated revetment at Site CC (2020)
  • Replacement of a failed cribwall with a vegetated revetment and woody debris fish habitat features at Site C8 (2020)
  • Replacement of a failed concrete revetment with a vegetated revetment and woody debris fish habitat feature at Site C10 (2020)
  • Site restoration, including trail paving, as well as installation of native tree and shrub (final touch ups to be completed spring 2021 as weather permits)
